The IoS project intends to utilize the available FAST Internet satellite technologies for the implementation of new types of services (e.g. Tele-Education, Tele-Medicine, Collaboration work). These services are best suited for satellite transmissions. The utilization of satellite channels for Internet traffic will be implemented through the IoS software provided by INTRACOM. The project aims to conduct research in the field of TCP/IP transmissions over satellite channels and propose improvements that will better suit the applications that are going to be implemented. The proposed improvements will be integrated into the IoS platform of INTRACOM. CTI participates in the project as a subcontractor of NTUA/NOC.
